About the Mediator

Lori Ross, Professional Mediator in the Greater Cincinnati area

Professional Experience

Prior to founding Cincinnati Mediation & Dispute Resolution LLC, Ms. Ross began her career as a mediator with the Center for Resolution of Disputes. Ms. Ross has successfully helped individuals and businesses resolve a variety of legal disputes through mediation, including, employment claims, breach of contract, construction, and personal injury, among others. The parties and counsel who have entrusted her to assist them in resolving their conflicts have found success with her direct and active approach to problem solving. Ms. Ross’ many years of experience as an attorney practicing complex litigation serve her well in quickly grasping sophisticated legal concepts and complicated fact patterns in order to cut to the root of the disagreement, and identify solutions efficiently. In addition to her mediation practice, Ms. Ross keeps current with growing trends in the law through her employment with the University of Cincinnati where she teaches and advises on a wide range of legal matters. Prior to her work for the University, she was a Partner in the Litigation Department of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky law firm, Strauss Troy. During her many years at Strauss Troy, she represented both plaintiffs and defendants in labor and employment matters, commercial litigation, and class action work, including mass torts, products liability, securities and consumer claims. She also has extensive experience in the areas of municipal law and complex commercial/business disputes, including breach of contract claims, construction cases, non-competes, unfair competition and trade secret litigation, and sports law.

Education and Background

Ms. Ross is a graduate of Miami University (magna cum laude) and the University of Cincinnati College of Law (Order of the Coif). She is admitted to practice in Ohio and Kentucky. She founded Cincinnati Mediation & Dispute Resolution LLC as a mediator with an extensive background in litigation and trial practice, and degrees in psychology and sociology. This unique combination provides her with an ability to not only relate to counsel and understand the legal concepts at issue, but also to relate to the parties and identify the interpersonal dynamics that may be creating obstacles to reaching an amicable resolution. She received formal mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) training with the renowned Center for Dispute Settlement. Ms. Ross has been invited to speak at seminars and classes on a wide variety of topics involving ADR, employment law, commercial litigation, municipal law, and sports law.

Selected Honors, Professional and Civic Memberships

Ms. Ross consistently has been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer, Rising Star. She is active in the Cincinnati Bar Association (including serving as a member of the Board of Trustees) and a graduate of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers. She also serves as a volunteer mediator for the Cincinnati Public Schools Truancy Diversion Program and for the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas.
